This wide-angle to short-telephoto zoom was designed for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, but it’s compatible with crop sensors and provides an equivalent focal length of 36-157.5mm. Perfect for events and travel photography, it has a nine-blade constant f/4 maximum aperture, which will give you consistent performance in low light conditions, and smooth bokeh.
The lens is constructed from 17 elements that are divided into 14 groups. Two aspherical elements, two advanced aspherical elements, and two extra-low dispersion elements reduce distortion, color fringing, and spherical aberrations. Each has been treated with Sony’s Nano AR Coating, which takes care of ghosting and flare, even in the brightest light. Images will be high-contrast, sharp, and color correct. Additionally, the front lens element is coated with fluorine, which eliminates dust, smudges, and fingerprints.
Autofocus is fast, precise, and silent due to the internal focus mechanism and Direct Drive Super Sonic Wave AF motor. Toggle between manual and autofocus using the switch on the lens barrel, or use the focus hold button, which makes it easy to lock in your focus.
The entire lens is weather-sealed, and rubberized control rings make it more pleasant to work with in cold weather. The Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS has an 84° to 23° angle of view, 0.31x maximum magnification, and a minimum focusing distance of 1.25 feet. It’s compatible with 77mm front filters.
