This wide-angle-prime is designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras; however, it can also be used with crop sensors where it will provide a 21mm equivalent focal length. It’s a part of Sigma’s Art Line, so it’s designed to bring out the artistic qualities of every photo and video. The f/1.8 maximum aperture provides exceptional low-light performance, and nine rounded blades create beautiful bokeh wherever you want it.
The lens is constructed from 16 elements divided into 11 groups, including three F Low Dispersion elements, four Special Low Dispersion elements, three aspherical elements, and one 80mm precision-molded glass aspherical element. Together with Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating, these elements remove chromatic and spherical aberrations, distortion, lens flare, and ghosting — leaving you with clear, color-correct, high-contrast images, no matter what the lighting.
Autofocus is quick, quiet, and precise owing to the Hyper Sonic Motor and advanced autofocus algorithm, which combine to provide smoother performance. Full-time manual focus is available via the focus ring — all you’ll need to do is turn the focus ring.
Since it’s made from a combination of a thermally stable composite material and metal, this hardy lens excels in a variety of temperatures. The brass bayonet mount is rubber-sealed, making the mount dust-and water-resistant.
The Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art for Sony E has a 114.2° angle of view, 0.102x maximum magnification, and minimum focusing distance of 10.63 inches. It’s not compatible with filters.
